Want to check out cloth nappies in real life?
Well you can do just that, on the 27th of June Handle With Care will be attending the Mathildas market in Canberra. We will be showcasing a number of our products, not least of all a HUGE selection of Modern Cloth nappies. Come and play with nappies and talk to real mums about their use, pros and cons and for special market deals. This is a fabulous niche market that offers unique, stylish and affordable baby & kids goods that are lovingly handmade or manufactured. The retailers are handpicked to ensure an exciting product range. It's a kid's shopping heaven. Better yet, most of the retailers do not have a shop front, so you know you'll find something special, not available anywhere else. Please come and see our stand at Mathilda’s Market from 9am to 1pm at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Commonwealth Ave, Yarralumla (easy pram access at rear). Entry and parking is free. With almost 60 retailers, divine food by the Hyatt Hotel and kids’ entertainment Mathilda’s Market is one of Canberra’s best shopping destinations for the little ones. For a sneak preview, have a look at the website (www.mathildasmarket.com.au) and enjoy a browse through the photos of all participants. I look forward to seeing you there!

Baby Photography
Since I had my first baby the capturing of pregnancy, newborns and babies has certainly grown in popularity! Everywhere you look you can find a photographer who enjoys capturing these special journeys in our lives, each taking just a slightly different angle and adding their own talent to the shot.
When I found out I was expecting our second beautiful baby and due just before we were due to travel to Perth for a family wedding I immediately contacted a gorgeous friend of mine and booked in for photography of our newborn and newly expanded family. Given I was due the 16th of March and we were due to go on the 25th of March all we needed was for bub to agree with us and arrive early or on time! Thankfully our beautiful boy Angus arrived 2 weeks early on the 1st of March. And so it was set, we confirmed the 31st of March as the day Fiona of Fiona Rogerson Photography would get use her talent on our family!
I was so excited to have a wonderful friend and beautiful person in Fiona to capture our boys. Her passion for photography and newborns really comes through in the photos she manages to get. It is no easy feat let me tell you, Hamish at 3 years old can be difficult at the best of times but Fee and her wonderful assistant were able to manage both boys to ensure we had a smooth easy photo session with no tears. I am sure that knowing Fee made the experience even more comfortable, but I truly believe that her relaxed and laid back nature and beautiful soul shine through and would make any baby or child also feel relaxed as a result.
I am now very excited to arrange our photos on our wall and will ofcourse share photos when we get them all up. For those in Perth, I highly recommend you give Fiona a call!! And now for a few photos...

Things are cuter in smaller sizes
There are some products we get in store, well actually most of the products we get in store that force me buy for my boys! With Winter on our doorsteps I just had to pop into our store the other morning and buy my little Angus his first pair of shoes (Simply J Crochet loafers). I've blogged about these before, but seriously could you GET any cuter!

Newest cloth addition
The Pop In Nappy by Close Parent is the newest Cloth nappy addition to Handle With Care.
The Pop-In is a next-generation One Size Fits Most (OSFM) all-in-one (AIO) nappy, in that the inner soaker attaches to the outer shell by means of poppers so you can take it apart (when you want to wash it) and put it back together (when you’ve washed and dried it before putting it on the baby).
The nappy is comprised of 3 parts; the outer shell, the inner soaker and the insert, all of which popper together to form an all-in-one nappy. The inner soaker fastens to the outer shell with 2 poppers at the front and 3 at the back – you’ll find the popper sockets on the outer shell underneath the pockets.

I was fortunate enough to try this nappy on my newest addition recently and I am so impressed with the double gusseted legs allowing extra leak protection and the fit makes it perfect to hug little bottoms nice and snuggly.
We are so please to have this new nappy on board at HWC, we hope that our larger range helps our customers to create a nappy package perfect for their little person.
Until next time,

Start with one
I just came across a fabulous website http://www.mygreennappy.org/.
The concept is simple -every household buys just 1 reusable/washable nappy - one DOES make a difference as everytime it is used that is 1 disposable kept out of landfill.
The website has some great information including 'Nappy Doulas'. Now there is a new concept! The Doula section has some good advice like how to get rid of stains on your nappies and other useful information. Oh and don't forget the 'latest trends in MCN', who would have thought!!!
But really the website does host a good concept and is definitely something to check out!

Market Wrap up and another addition to HWC
Sunday saw another Mathilda's Market come and go, it was a good day. We always have fun at the markets when we are child free and playing amongst many gorgeous products! The new location of the Hyatt hotel was interesting - we discovered that our eftpost facilities couldn't find reception so we couldn't accept card payments (insert frustrated face here).
We did love the big selection of Modern Cloth Nappies which we were able to provide to our interested customers and enjoyed going through these with people throughout the day.
The market wrapped up and Monday saw me birthing my beautiful baby boy into this world! It would seem that 7 hours on my feet at a market certainly does help to send a clear message to the baby that down is the only way out! Angus George made his grand debut after a very quick labour and is absolute perfection (however I *could* be a little biase).
Will be back with more later.

Mathilda's Market - 28th February - Canberra
We’re so excited! On Sunday 28 February we will be showcasing our wares at Mathilda's Market. This is a fabulous niche market that offers unique, stylish and affordable baby & kids goods that are lovingly handmade or of limited production.
The retailers are hand picked to ensure an exciting product range. It's a kid's shopping heaven. Better yet, most of the retailers do not have a shop front, so you know you'll find something special, not available anywhere else. Please come and see our stand at Mathilda’s Market from 9am to 1pm at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Commonwealth Ave. Entry and parking is free. With almost 50 retailers, gourmet food and kids entertainment, Mathilda’s Market is becoming one of Canberra’s hippest and fun shopping destinations for your little ones. Although there is no ATM machine in the Hyatt Hotel the Mathilda's Market organisers have been kind enough to set up an eftpos facility whereby you can pay a small ATM fee of $2 to withdraw money with them at the entry. So if you get excited and buy more then you anticipate - there IS more money to be found!
For a sneak preview, have a look at the website (http://www.mathildasmarket.com.au/) and enjoy a browse through the photos of all participants.
Alison, or Alison and I (depending on when this baby decides to arrive) will see you there!

Does not take much...
To excite a pregnant woman!!! I've just been working on some orders for new products for Handle With Care and I came across some new colours that are available in our Itzbeen baby care timer! I am incredibly excited as I must have been living under a rock over the last few months - I have no idea how long these colours have been available!
For those not familiar with this fabulous creation the Itzbeen baby care timer is a wonderful little device developed by 2 sleep deprived parents in the United States. The timer allows you to keep track of your little ones habits without worrying about finding a piece of paper and a pen or a light or clock. This clever little device has it all, a light, a clock, an alarm and buttons to keep track of feeding, nappy changes, sleep an extra button and for the breastfeeding mothers a button for which side you last fed on and it is all lockable to ensure you don't accidently change those timers!
I never had one of these when my nearly 3 year old was a baby, we had an exercise book in the kitchen which we would try to remember to put the information on so we could calculate when he last fed, but I usually woke up in the morning somewhat frazzled and unsure - was it 11.30 or 1.30 or both that I was up before the 3.30 and 5.30 I was also up for! We got our Itzbeen when Hamish was 18 months old, he was sick so I 'renamed' the buttons in alphabetical order, dimetapp, nurofen, panadoland sleep. I've used it a bit with him since and cannot wait to use it in newborn mode in just a few more weeks!
Is the Itzbeen just for babies? No the Itzbeen is very flexible, one of our customers informed us that they had used it in early labour to time contractions! Several people have noted that it would be handy for people on multiple medications, as long as you know which timer is which medication you could use it to assist you in taking them at regular intervals.
So now that the Itzbeen is available in such a great range of colours (and I'm sure we will see more) it has become an even more stylish and very handy device!

Shoes, shoes, shoes...
I must confess, this morning I was pottering in the business room and selecting (in my mind) some items for my inutero baby - not the first nor the last time that this will happen! There are many things I would like and am constantly having to restrain myself. Alison and baby Emma visited to help pack some orders and thankfully Alison did not restrain herself and so satisfied my cluckyness for yet another day! Emma was quickly put into some beautiful crochet Mary Janes. But seriously, how could you resist these?
I've kept busy this morning whilst my little one was out with his grandparents and have finally updated some stock on the website, Aden and Anais wraps, Vanchi extra large wraps and wrap and hat sets are all restocked and a new range to Handle With Care, Pear and Bear has now started to be put on the website. There is still; as always plenty of stock that needs to be put on the website - it is an incredibly difficult task to keep on top of it all but we are doing our best :-)But for now that is all from me, a morning of busy business tasks has left me ready for a midday nap!
